    Officers responding around 11:30 a.m. PT to reports of a medical emergency found Giambi dead at his parents’ home in Claremont, east of Los Angeles, police Lt. Robert Ewing told The Associated Press. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office will determine the cause of death, Ewing said.
    Wolfe said the family requested “that we all respect their privacy during this difficult time.”
    Giambi played six seasons in the majors, including with his older brother, five-time All-Star Jason Giambi, on the A’s in 2000 and 2001.
    It was during the 2001 season that Jeremy Giambi was part of one of the most memorable moments in MLB history when he was tagged out at home on the back end of Derek Jeter’s famous “flip” toss during Game 3 of the American League Division Series between the New York Yankees and A’s. Giambi was a highly productive member of that A’s team, which won 102 regular-season games, batting .283/.391/.450 with 12 home runs and 57 RBIs.
    “We are heartbroken to learn of the passing of a member of our Green and Gold family, Jeremy Giambi,” the A’s said in a statement. “We offer our condolences to Jeanne, Jason, and his family and friends.”
    The following year, Giambi was a member of the 2002 Oakland team whose season was chronicled by author Michael Lewis in the 2003 bestseller “Moneyball,” before being traded to the Philadelphia Phillies in May of that year for utilityman John Mabry. He finished the 2002 season having accumulated 20 home runs.
    Giambi was born in San Jose and attended South Hills High in West Covina before starring on the Cal State Fullerton team that won the 1995 College World Series. He was drafted in the sixth round by the Kansas City Royals the following summer.
    “We stand with the baseball world in mourning the loss of Jeremy Giambi,” the Royals said. “Our condolences go to his family, and everyone who loved him.”
    Through parts of six seasons from 1998 to 2003, Giambi batted .263 with 52 home runs and 209 RBIs while playing for the Royals, A’s, Phillies and Boston Red Sox.


    Less than two years later, in March 2005, Giambi told the Kansas City Star that he knowingly used steroids during his playing career, becoming one of the first notable major leaguers to make the admission. Transcripts of testimony showed that Jason and Jeremy Giambi admitted to taking performance-enhancing substances to a federal grand jury during the BALCO proceedings in December of 2003.

    On Wednesday, Saget’s family released a statement stating that authorities had “determined that Bob passed from head trauma.”
    “They have concluded that he accidentally hit the back of his head on something, thought nothing of it and went to sleep,” the statement read. “No drugs or alcohol were involved.”
    Saget, who was 65, had been on comedy tour at the time of his death and was found dead in his Orlando, Florida hotel room.
    No information was offered as to how Saget may have hit his head.
    CNN’s chief medical correspondent Sanjay Gupta said it sounded like a possible “bleed on top of the brain” which may have resulted in a “subdural hematoma.”
    “There is a blood collection in this scenario that’s on top of the brain pushing on the brain,” Dr. Gupta demonstrated to CNN’s Don Lemon using a diagram. “The thing about the brain, unlike any other organ in the body, it’s obviously encased in hard skull so it has no where to go if it has this kind of pressure on it.”
    That pressure on the brain and brain stem can result in a person losing consciousness and their ability to breathe on their own.
    “It may have been a pretty significant blow to the head,” Gupta said. “Maybe a fall in the bathroom, or on the headboard of your bed, you don’t think anything of it. Small veins can tear as a result of that blow and blood can start to leak.”
    Saget’s death reminded some Liam Neeson’s wife, the late actress Natasha Richardson, who died after hitting her head during a skiing lesson at a resort in Québec, Canada in 2009.
    Richardson, who was 45 at the time, reportedly initially declined medical treatment following the fall. She was taken by ambulance to a hospital hours later after complaining of a headache.
    Mark Shand, the younger brother of Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, the wife of Prince Charles, died in 2014 after falling and hitting his head on a New York City sidewalk. He was 62.
    Gupta said subdural hematomas are “far more common that people realize” and can develop over hours or even weeks.
    Signs to look for include a headache, slurred speech, confusion nausea and vomiting as an indication that the person should seek medical treatment, he said.
    Being on blood thinners (it is not known if Saget was) can also make a person susceptible to such bleeding.


    “I don’t want to suggest that everyone who hits their head needs to go get a [computed tomography also known as a CT or CAT)] scan,” Gupta said. “Most do not need that obviously. But if it’s a significant blow, you’re on blood thinners …and again those symptoms: worsening headaches, confusion, nausea, vomiting, slurring of speech, things like that are unusual. You should definitely go get that checked out.”

    – Satu bulan pasca kematian komedian Bob Saget, keluarga mengungkap penyebab kematiannya yang tiba-tiba. Pihak keluarga mengonfirmasi kepada PEOPLE bahwa bintang drama komedi Full House itu meninggal akibat benturan di kepala.
    “Pihak berwenang telah menetapkan bahwa Bob meninggal karena trauma kepala,” kata keluarga Saget, Rabu (9/2/2022). “Mereka telah menyimpulkan kepala Bob terbentur secara tidak sengaja. Dia tidak memikirkannya dan pergi tidur,” lanjut keluarga Saget.
    Mereka memastikan di dalam tubuh komedian itu tidak ditemukan obat-obatan maupun minuman beralkohol. Keluarga Saget menambahkan ucapan doa dan cinta yang luar biasa dari penggemar sampai beberapa minggu setelah Bob Saget meninggal.
    “(Dukungan itu) menjadi penghiburan besar bagi kami dan kami sangat berterima kasih,” ucap keluarga. Karena itu, keluarga merasa penggemar berhak mendengar kesimpulan dari penyelidikan kematian Bob Saget.
    “Karena kita berduka bersama, kami meminta setiap orang untuk mengenang cinta dan tawa yang dibawa Bob ke dunia ini,” lanjut keluarga. Mereka juga berharap penggemar juga mengenang pelajaran yang dibagikan Bob Saget semasa hidup.
    “Yakni baik kepada setiap orang, menunjukkan kepada orang orang-orang yang kita sayangi, dan menghadapi masa-masa sulit dengan pelukan dan tawa,” lanjut keluarga komedian itu.


    Bob Saget ditemukan meninggal di Hotel Ritz-Carlton di Orlando, Florida, pada 9 Januari 2022. Bob Saget meninggalkan seorang istri Kelly Rizzo dan ketiga putrinya yakni Aubrey (34) Lara (32), dan Jennifer (29) dari mantan istrinya, Sherri Kramer.
